Like FIFA 21 before it, the next-gen upgrade for Madden NFL 21 has gone live a day early. There is a caveat with the PS5 version though, as the game is not yet connected to the servers. The developers are doing some final testing on a problem and will provide updates this evening; however, the game can be played offline. Madden NFL 21 can be downloaded on next-gen consoles for players who have purchased the game on Xbox One and/or PS4. For those players who purchased a physical copy of Madden NFL 21 on PS4 or Xbox One and upgraded to a discless next-generation console, you will need to contact EA Help to validate your purchase using your account information to receive your free upgrade. Players who buy, or who have already bought, Madden NFL 21 for Xbox One and or PlayStation 4 from now to the launch of Madden NFL 22 get the Xbox Series X/S and or PS5 version of the game for free. On PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, you can also expect authentic stadium environments, deferred lighting across all surfaces, visual fidelity, enhanced player visuals, and all-new realistic weather. You can also expect new cloth animation tech, new location-based audio, and on PS5, haptic feedback from the DualSense controller allows you to feel the impact of passes, catches, tackles, hits, and kicks.
